Song: In The Mood
Written by Joe GarlandGlenn Miller`s version of IN THE MOOD spent 12 weeks at No. 1 in the spring of 1940 and was later elected to the NARAS Hall Of Fame. Written by Joe Garland, In The Mood has become synonymous with the Big Band Era and is one of America`s best-loved and most danced-to melodies. Other outstanding hit versions have been recorded by Johnny Maddox (1953), Ernie Fields (1959) and Bette Midler (1973). Perhaps the most unusual interpretation was by pop/country star Ray Stevens (who, as "the Henhouse Five Plus Too"), clucked his way up the charts in 1977. In 1989 In The Mood was also featured in the "Swing The Mood" medley which became a hit for Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers. In 2000, The Brian Setzer Orchestra recorded IN THE MOOD with a new lyric written by Brian Setzer and Mike Himmelstein. This version was renamed GETTIN' IN THE MOOD.
