The Sex Pistols (Johnny Rotten, b. John Lydon, January 31, 1956; Sid Vicious, b. John Ritchie, May 10, 1957, d. February 2, 1979); Steve Jones, b. September 3, 1955; Paul Cook, b. July 20, 1956) hit the international rock scene as Britain's hottest export in 1977. Although this rowdy quartet never attained superstar status in America, they were at the forefront of the punk rock movement. The Sex Pistols' first album, Anarchy In the UK, was released in early 1977 and promptly pulled off the market in Britain for being too controversial. Never Mind The Bullocks - Here's the Sex Pistols, their second album, was released in November of 1977 and entered the UK charts at No. 1. The band broke up six months later after a disastrous tour of the U.S.
