| After quitting her classical vocal training, PAT BENATAR (b. Brooklyn, NY, Jan 10, 1953) found herself touring the cabaret scene in New York until she turned to rock and Chrysalis signed her in 1978. After an initial flirtation with a sex-kitten image, she soon took on the tough-woman rocker persona which made her popular in the 80's and which matched the mood of the hits she wrote with husband/guitarist Neil Giraldo: "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" (1980), "Love Is a Battlefield" (1983), "We Belong" (1984), and "Sex as a Weapon" (1985). With her usual audacity, she made a foray into the blues with the album True Love in 1991. |
