With his brother Carmen's singing, GUY LOMBARDO (b. London, Ontario, June 19 1902; d. Houston, TX, Nov.5, 1977) and His Royal Canadians created "the sweetest music this side of heaven." After setting the trend for the dance bands of the 30's with skillful, swinging performances, they became America's house band with their annual New Year's Eve broadcast performances of "Auld Lang Syne." They also appeared in several movies, including Many Happy Returns (1934) and No Leave, No Love (1946), and the band stayed together until Lombardo's death in 1977.
