Liberace (b. Wladzim Valentino Liberace, West Allis, WI, May 16, 1919; d. February 4, 1987) was truly one of the most flamboyant entertainers of this century. Even though he flaunted his trademark candelabras and outrageous garb in his stage act, his audiences never forgot that he was a gifted pianist. Reaching the height of his popularity in the 1950s, Liberace was a recording star, a Broadway and touring entertainer and a television and movie personality; his fans were known for their intense loyalty.
