Michael Feinstein (b. September 7, 1956, Columbus, Ohio) began his career in 1977 as lyricist Ira Gershwin's personal assistant and worked with him for seven years organizing an archive of Gershwin's material. Feinstein began his professional career as a pianist and singer in 1984 and specialized in performing music from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. His debut album Live At The Algonquin was released in 1986 and, since then, Feinstein has recorded over 15 critically-acclaimed and popular albums saluting the greatest songwriters in the world. He has also recorded a well-received children's album which featured "Because We're Kids," a classic Shapiro Bernstein song written by well-known author Dr. Seuss.
