When it came time to choose the first inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, FATS DOMINO (b. New Orleans, LA Feb. 26, 1928) was an obvious choice. Despite a childhood hand injury, he kept playing piano until he had earned 23 gold albums, selling over sixty-million records and giving Elvis some serious competition. He played New Orleans-flavored boogie-rock with incredible energy, leaving the keyboard soaked with sweat and producing such good-natured hits such as "The Fat Man" (1950), "Ain't That a Shame" (1955), and "Blueberry Hill" (1956).
