Jimmy Durante (b. February 10, 1893, New York, NY; d. January 29, 1980) was a tremendously popular radio, TV and film comedian. His gravelly voice was his trademark, as was his large nose (which earned him the nickname of "Schnozzola"). He became a vaudeville star in the 1920s and later appeared in countless Hollywood comedies and musicals. In 1963 Durante, who was then 70 years old, recorded several highly acclaimed albums of standards for Warner Brothers Records. One of the highlights was his wistful, touching rendition of the Shapiro Bernstein classic "The Glory of Love," which Jimmy Hilliard produced for the album Hello Young Lovers.
