After her first performance at the age of four, Frances Rose must have caught the bug--after going to Vanderbilt she headed to New York to pursue a singing career in 1937. She recorded "Dinah" with Xavier Cugat in 1939, and thereafter took the name DINAH SHORE (b. Winchester, TN, Mar 1, 1917). After performing frequently on the radio, often on the Eddie Cantor show, she got her own radio show in 1941 and released Blues In the Night, which sold over a million copies. After appearing in several films in the 40's, she had her own TV shows from the 50's through the 70's, and she still makes occasional appearances.
