CRYSTAL GAYLE (b. Paintsville, KY, Jan 9, 1951) had her first hit in 1970 with "I Cried (the Blue Right Out of My Eyes)," a song written by her older sister, Loretta Lynn. The two sisters toured together, but Gayle developed a successful career on her own, leaning towards pop where Lynn favored purer country. In 1977 Gayle had another pop/country hit with an optical theme, "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," and by 1982 she had produced twenty-nine albums.
