| Chet Baker (b. Chesney H. Baker, Yale, OK, December 23, 1929; d. May 13, 1988) was at the center of the West Coast 'cool jazz' movement of the 1950s. He was known for the light, laid-back tone of his trumpet and played with jazz giants Charlie Parker and Gerry Mulligan. In addition to the critically-acclaimed records he released for over thirty years, Baker was also well-known as a studio musician and served as musical director for the hit TV series Laugh In.
