BLESSID UNION OF SOULS released their eponymous second album. "I Wanna Be There," from Blessid Union of Souls, reached Top 40 on Billboard's "Hot 100" and stayed on that chart for 20 consecutive weeks. "I Wanna Be There" was also featured in the film Contact, starring Jodie Foster. Blessid Union of Souls' first album, released in 1995, spawned the Top Ten smash "I Believe," which was co-written and produced by Emosia, who is one of Shapiro Bernstein's hottest new talents.
Shapiro Bernstein's affiliate, Painted Desert Music, signed singer/songwriter Laura Love to a worldwide publishing agreement in 1997. With the release of her Mercury Records debut, Octoroon, later that year, Laura Love found national recognition and stellar critical acclaim. Octoroon reached the #1 spot on noncommercial radio in July of 1997.
