Remus Harris, Irving Melsher, and Big Band Leader Russ Morgan co-wrote the wistful ballad SO LONG [performance by Ruth Brown] in 1940, the year it became the debut hit of The Charioteers, a Cincinnati-based vocal group. The Four Aces also scored with the song in 1954, but it was Ruth Brown, in her recording debut for Atlantic Records in 1949, who sang the definitive version. Brown's torchy delivery helped push the tune to the No. 6 spot on the Billboard R&B chart. Three other important versions of SO LONG have turned up on the R&B hit parade over the years: those by Johnny Moore's Three Blazers (1946), Fats Domino (1956) and Roy Hamilton (1957). Pat Benatar also recorded this song in 1991.
The Five Keys performed THE GLORY OF LOVE from "The Aladdin Years." RED SAILS IN THE SUNSET by the Five Keys was released on the album "The Aladdin Years." The Five Keys also performed a version of (There'll Be Bluebirds Over)THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER. Les Paul released IN THE MOOD from the box set entitled "Les Paul: The Legend and the Legacy." Bruce Willis and Danny Aiello record SIDE BY SIDE for their movie "Hudson Hawk".
