Brenda Shannon Greene, who began her singing career at York University,
became famous as simply "Shannon" in November 1983 thanks to her dance
hit LET THE MUSIC PLAY [performance by Shannon] . The tune, written by Chris Barbos and Ed Chisolm,
climbed to No. 8 on the pop charts early the following year and was the No. 1 dance record for six weeks. This success was repeated in most European countries.
