Big band leader Russ Morgan and composer Jack Stuart recorded SO TIRED [performance by Kay Starr] in 1948 and later that year Morgan's recording of the tune went to No. 3 on the hit parade. The next year pop singer Kay Starr released her own dreamy version (included here), which became her first Top 10 hit.

Big band leader Russ Morgan co-wrote the wistful ballad SO LONG [performance by Ruth Brown] in 1940, the year it became the debut hit of The Charioteers, a Cincinnati-based vocal group. The Four Aces also scored with the song in 1954, but it was Ruth Brown, in her recording debut for Atlantic Records in 1949, who sang the definitive version. Brown's torchy delivery helped push the tune to the No. 6 spot on the Billboard R&B chart. Three other important versions of So Long have turned up on the R&B hit parade over the years: those by Johnny Moore's Three Blazers (1946), Fats Domino (1956) and Roy Hamilton (1957). Pat Benatar also recorded this song in 1991.

Perry Como, a sentimental crooner on most of his hits, took A DREAMER'S HOLIDAY [performance by Perry Como] to No. 3 on the pop music charts in 1949. The song, written by ace tunesmiths Kim Gannon and Mabel Wayne, was revived by country singer Willie Nelson in 1983.
