Marilyn Monroe stopped the show when she purred EV'RY BABY NEEDS A DA-DA-DADDY [performance by Marilyn Monroe] in the 1948 Columbia Pictures film Ladies Of The Chorus. It was one of Monroe's first featured performances and she made the most of it!

South Carolina native Arthur Smith hosted one of the South's most popular radio shows during the '30s and '40s. An accomplished guitar, banjo and mandolin player, Smith was also a composer of bopping tunes like GUITAR BOOGIE [performance by Arthur Smith] which he recorded with his band, the Cracker-jacks, in 1948. A Top 10 country hit, his single also climbed to No. 25 on the pop charts the same year.

YOU WERE ONLY FOOLING (While I Was Falling In Love) [performance by Kay Starr] launched Kay Starr's successful career as a solo artist. She recorded the song for Capitol Records in 1948 and it promptly climbed to #16 on the charts later that year.
