Harry James and His Orchestra, along with vocalist Frank Sinatra, recorded ON A LITTLE STREET IN SINGAPORE [performance by Harry James] on October 13, 1939 -- nearly five years before their recording became a hit in 1944. Written by Billy Hill and Peter DeRose, ON A LITTLE STREET IN SINGAPORE was a greater success in 1940 for Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra and was also recorded by the Grammy-winning vocal group Manhattan Transfer in 1978.

There were three different hit versions of the infectious dance song DANCE WITH A DOLLY (With a Hole In Her Stockin') [performance by Russ Morgan] in 1944: big band leader Russ Morgan's, which went to No. 2; songbird Evelyn Knight's, which climbed to No. 6; and Tony Pastor's, which peaked at No. 9. In 1952 Bill Haley and His Comets released a terrific rockabilly version of this goodtime dance classic.

Tommy Dorsey , Billie Holiday and Jo Stafford all recorded ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET.

Bing Crosby recorded EXACTLY LIKE YOU.
